Bible Text: 2 Timothy 3:16

The Foundation of Our Faith

As a Bible-believing church, we do not merely read the Word; we follow the Scripture as our roadmap and obey God’s Word as our ultimate authority. Our spiritual growth is built upon four divine pillars found in 2 Timothy 3:16:

1. Doctrine: The teaching of truth.

2. Reproof: The conviction of sin.

3. Correction: The restoration to the right way.

4. Instruction: Training in righteousness.

What is Doctrine? (John 7:16-17) 

Doctrine is not a human philosophy; it is the living Word of God. To live by doctrine means to ask in every situation: "What is God saying about this?" It is the alignment of our will with the Divine mind.

The Power of Reproof and Correction

If you call yourself a child of God but cannot accept reproof, rebuke, or the quiet whisper of the Spirit, you risk becoming rebellious. Rebellion isn't just against leaders—it is against the Word itself.

• Titus 1:13: The Scripture is our testimony and our mirror.

• The Purpose of Rebuke: Reproof is not meant to hurt you; it is designed to heal you and make you "sound" in the faith.

• A Warning Against Pride:  According to Proverbs 10:17, it is a sad state to be "too big" for correction. Whenever God corrects you—whether through a message, a friend, or His Spirit—stay humble and open.

Practical Holiness: Don’t Go Back to Square One

Our faith must be visible in our daily conduct. We are called to be "children of light" in a dark world.

1. Honor Your Heritage (Ephesians 6:1-3): You cannot claim to love God while neglecting your duties to your biological parents. Obedience to this doctrine is the key to a blessed life.

2. Civic Responsibility (Romans 13:1-5): As Christians, we lead by example. We obey the laws of the land and act as catalysts for change in our communities.

• Note: Our ultimate loyalty is to the Kingdom. If a worldly directive contradicts God’s Word, we must follow God first (Daniel 6:6-10).

3. The Sanctity of Marriage: Marriage is a sacred covenant designed for mature minds.

• God’s Design: He desires marriages that stand out as beacons of hope.

• On Divorce: God’s heart is for reconciliation (Malachi 2:16). If you feel "trapped" or overwhelmed, do not lean on your own understanding—cry out to God for help and divine intervention.

4. Cultivating a Healthy Home

A peaceful home is a spiritual fortress. To maintain it, we must guard our hearts against the "little foxes" that spoil the vine.

• Overcoming Anger (Psalms 37:8 & Ecclesiastes 7:9): Anger is often the root of separation. We must "cease from it" before it takes root.

• The Danger of Comparison (2 Corinthians 10:12): Comparison is a thief of joy. Couples must never compare their partners with others; instead, cherish the unique gift God has given you.

• Wisdom for the Woman (Proverbs 14:1 & Psalms 45:10): A wise woman is an architect of her home. She builds her household with prayer, grace, and wisdom.

• The Responsibility of the Man (Ecclesiastes 9:9 & 1 Peter 3:7): A man is called to live joyfully with his wife and treat her with honor.

Closing Keys for a Strong Marriage:

• Observe: Study the body language and needs of your partner.

• Protect: Never expose your partner’s weaknesses to the world; cover them in love.

• Pray: Above all, be a "prayer Christian" in your marriage. When you pray together, you stay together.
